But the bath foam, for example, will be located in the same grocery store right at the entrance (or exit - depending on which side to watch), not far from the cash register, and still sparkle with bright, attractive labels.
Bath foam is a “related product”. That is, a product that is not directly related to the store’s specialization (we immediately stipulated that the store is a food store), but can be sold close to specialized (in this case, food) goods.
It is also close to the cashier and the most convenient for the buyer are the seeds, chocolate bars, bags of candy and nuts, small children's toys and other rubbish that no one thinks to buy, heading to the grocery store.
And so - in every store built on the principle of self-service. The most necessary and best-selling goods are in the far corners, and the less needed and less we buy a product, the more convenient it is, it is located in the immediate vicinity of the cash register and tries to catch the eye in general using various methods, while it’s still necessary to search.
Take your time to scold shops. In the end, their task is to sell. And it is this arrangement of goods designed for certain features of human psychology. The fact that many people often do what is called "spontaneous purchase." That is, they buy something that they generally do not need, but still take it - because it caught my eye at the right time.
For example, children's toys and chocolate bars right at the box office. No sane buyer will not look for a similar product, coming to the grocery store. But, standing in line to pay for purchases, it may well decide to put a bar and a machine for a child in the basket. And if a mother came to the store with a child, then we can guarantee that without chocolate or toys they will not go away. Shop - an obvious benefit. Buyer - not always.
It is good if you are a stable person who has a certain immunity and is not prone to spontaneous purchases. But even the most persistent buyer is not able to refuse his child, who has already clung to the chocolate bar, which is worth a penny.
A penny is a penny, but if you count how much is spent on spontaneous purchases, then many hair will stand on end. After all, not everyone has immunity. And the bright packaging is so attractive ... And the advertisement is persistently not what it whispers, but directly screams - buy, this is exactly what you lack for complete happiness! And the hands themselves are drawn to the shelves with completely unnecessary goods. And the money flows safely in the "unknown" direction.
If you have unlimited income, that's fine. We bought a package of chips or, in a state of confusion, grabbed a box of chocolates, or brought a jar of canned squid home instead of a piece of butter - it does not matter. Well, and if the income is limited, and every penny in the account? If a can of squid means canned meat from the whole family? Or - money was spent on related products for the weekly purchase of products, and now you have to dodge and learn to cook ax soup?
Often the inability to refrain from spontaneous purchases leads to quite serious problems. And with this you need to learn to fight.
The easiest way: to make a detailed list of everything you need to buy in the store, and take the goods strictly on this list. Without looking around. Not paying attention to attractive packaging. Without listening to sellers who only dream to help you choose a related product (what you need, you can easily choose without help).
If any product irresistibly attracts (for example, you liked the packaging or an advertisement about the extraordinary usefulness and usefulness of this product appeared in memory), then you should not immediately grab it and put it in the basket. Consider this product carefully, think about why you need it, is it really necessary? Maybe this is not a spontaneous purchase, but something that you forgot to add to the list of necessary. Recount money - how big a breach will make in your finances such an acquisition. And in general - will you use it? Will you enjoy your purchase when you take it out of the bag at home?
If the list is not able to stop you and spontaneous purchases continue, you persistently bring huge packages home, leaving behind a loaf of bread, then there is a limitation in finances: take only as much money as you need to purchase goods from the “mandatory” list. In no case do not use bank cards - there is always “extra” money on them (until you suddenly find that they have run out). And if it turns out that something that attracts your attention is a product that you really need, but you forgot to add it to the list, then it is better to go to the store again than to buy a lot of unnecessary things.
You can also use the help of friends - to go shopping in the company of such people who are very critical of such a pastime, are immune to spontaneous purchases and are able to stop you at that critical moment when you are already holding the goods you do not need.
Be attentive to what you are buying. Keep track of your expenses. Remember that in the store you have two tasks: to buy what you need and keep from acquiring what you do not need (by the way, the store has one task - to sell everything that is possible). And in the end you will get rid of the "fortieth instinct" - to drag into the nest all that seemed attractive. And at the same time save money.
